Drain Clearance

Drain blockages are nasty, so you don’t want to waste any time getting them fixed. The longer a drain is blocked the more danger there is of overflowing effluent and dirty water, and permanent damage to pipes resulting in leaks. If overflowing water comes into contact with electrical fittings it could cause even more dangerous problems.

If you become aware of a foul smell coming from bathroom or kitchen drains it’s the sign of a blockage that is only going to get worse. Things like hair, food particles, soap and grease build up, eventually blocking the pipes, and toilets can be blocked by flushing non-biodegradable items like face wipes and cotton wool.

Outdoors overflowing drains can be a more serious problem. Drains may crack and pipe joints open up as a result of ground movement, subsidence, water infiltration, root ingress or vehicular traffic. Finding the damaged part of the piping or the cause of the obstruction takes a trained drainage engineer with the right equipment.

Once the drain fault is located and identified we can usually repair it with a clever technique called structural lining. This “no-dig” drain repair method works by inserting a resin-based fibre liner into the damaged drain and inflating it with an inner tube until it creates a tough waterproof lining for the damaged pipe.

If all else fails we might have to excavate the area around the broken pipe to reach it and make repairs, but if this happens you can depend on us to work quickly, efficiently and tidily so as to cause as little disruption as possible.
